Just next door from the Aquarium is a true landmark
& the most famous coaster in the world

The Aquarium is partially opened right now but that didn’t stop us from seeing the exhibits in the conservation center as well as outdoor spaces of sea cliffs where you can see the walrus’, sea lions, harbor seals, sea otters, and penguins.
Located on the Boardwalk, in Education Hall - we attended a workshop;
Fins & Feathers - Penguins and fish may share a habitat, but there are stark differences in how they've adapted to survive in the sea. Students will compare and contrast the characteristics of these fascinating animals through bio-fact investigation & group activity.
Fun Facts: The bones of a bird are thin and hollow; therefore
they are much lighter and more efficient for flying.
Birds have feathers, wings, lay eggs and are warm blooded.

Penguins do not fly but are exceptional at swimming; they have webbed feet and wings adapted to work in a similar to flippers, the tail is short and wedge shaped.
Feathers are incredibly strong and yet are incredibly flexible.
Penguins keep their skin wind and waterproof by spreading
natural oil over the stiff part of the feathers.
Our Instructor demonstrated this by rubbing Vaseline on paper and spraying it with water.
FUN FACTS: A group of penguins on land is called a “waddle."
When a mother emperor penguin lays her single egg. Then off she goes to the ocean to hunt for food. Papa Penguin stays behind, balancing the egg on his feet and keeping it warm under his belly feathers.
Penguin eggs are smaller than any other bird species.
A penguin’s normal body temperature is approximately 100° F
The Penguin and the ostrich are birds that do not fly!
Penguins do not have teeth. Instead they use their beak to grab and hold wiggling prey.
A penguin wing is called a flipper.

Oh, the many types of fishes and the coral reef display is so beautiful!
WOW, you can stare into the tank for hours.
We enjoyed seeing sea creatures & the coral reef.
So Exciting!!!
The kids had a blast watching the Walrus feeding.
The trainers were fantastic and the Walruses didn’t miss a beat with their tricks.
The aquarium is still in the process of rebuilding after superstorm Sandy hit.
They informed us that they are constructing new exhibits for a
bigger aquarium opening in 2016!
Overall, it was a wonderful day and we cannot wait to go back! :)
